Blue Mountains Training Run - Katoomba
Time & Location
About the Event
This Sunday morning, 1st March at 7:30am, we will be meeting up for session 3 of the On Course Super Session training groups. Note that the route we will be following today is especially for the Six Foot Track and UTA100 event competitors however it is open for anyone to join in and enjoy !
This week we will be heading deeper still into the mountains and running the Six Foot Track from the Explorers Tree (5 minutes west of Katoomba) to the Megalong Valley Cemetery. We will be offering two options for this run:
- 10km from the Explorers tree to Megalong Cemetery with a car shuttle run back to the start
(note this route is ALL downhill to flat terrain)
- 20km from the Explorers tree to Megalong Cemetery and returning to the Explorers Tree
(note the return route for this will go up the challenging Nellies Glen climb which is narrow, technical with a lot of stairs !)
The meeting point for the start of the run will be in the car park at the start of the Six Foot Track. Note that there is limited parking in this area so if there is insufficient space you can park further down the road at the explorers tree and walk to the meeting point (for directions see the map below or phone me on 0412 522 047 if you get lost). Driving time from the Northern Suburbs is roughly 100 minutes.
CAR POOLING AND SHUTTLES If you are interested in car pooling we will be meeting at 5:00am at Boronia Park, Hunters Hill. Depending on numbers we may need to call on volunteers to use their cars to provide the shuttle service back to Katoomba so please let us know if you may be able to do this.
There will be a $20 contribution for runners who are not registered on a BEXI or NS trail program (sorry for the confusion on previous sessions but NS clients on the unlimited session package do in fact need to pay) . For this you will get plenty of coaching advice, encouragement and entertainment !
